"A new challenge --- a new struggle --- a new you --- We are all students, learning about our world and ourselves. The process goes on and we move on, growing and changing, or we are left behind as life speeds by us. I love the challenge and the struggle. Long live art!"
-- Barbara K. Stallings

artwork

Art has been part of my life as far back as I can remember. I drew, carved, glued, made things from everything. Drawing was an obsession. I drew on my bedroom walls until I was forced to stop. So I drew on the walls inside my closet. One day I stood on the dining room table and drew on the ceiling. (I didn't even know about Michaelangelo then.) I've enjoyed many forms of art but painting is my passion.

Whatever I've done in life, I've always gone at it full force and thrown my whole being into it. My motto has been, "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right."

Since retirement from teaching I've become a full time artist. I never plan to retire from my painting. It is a blending of my mind, soul and spirit. My spirit soars when I'm in the creative process. I transcend the world of hum drum. Being creative brings a joy and sense of well being beyond description. It is a natural high. The mind can imagine more and faster than the hand can produce. The well never runs dry. This is the stuff real life is made of. Art is a large part of my life. It keeps me young, happy, vibrant, focused, alert, excited, motivated, enthusiastic ---etc.---etc.---etc.....
