George Bernard Shaw said, "you use a mirror of glass to see yourself, you use works of art to see your soul."
As an artist I feel there is tremendous satisfaction found in creativity of any medium. Watercolor is an exciting experience, because of the fluidity, translucency and freshness.
I am continually inspired by the challenges inherent in this medium. The subjects I return to most often are the Florida landscape, wildlife and florals. Masa paper offers a unique quality to my painting and I use it quite often. Also, I enjoy the diversion to abstract which gives me great freedom in expression and fun.
Jayne Morgan is a native of Coral Gables, Florida. Art became a part of her life at a young age, in large part due to her mother's influence and inspiration. She continued her formal education at Miami Dade College in art and design. Unable to fulfill a dream to continue at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she put aside her art studies but continued painting as a hobby.
"Art has always been my passion, but not always a reality."
When Jayne's husband retired twelve years ago they relocated to Rainbow Springs, Florida, where her art became her reality. She began a transition from oil to watercolor at Florida Community College, after which she studied under noted artist Elouise Gardener Giles.
"For the past years that I have been establishing myself as an artist, my family and friends have given me constant support. Especially my husband, who kept urging me on during the times that I wanted just to give up."
