"I have spent most of my life working
with horses. Their beauty is always
special to me...."

   -- Mary Masters

artwork

Over the past few years I have evolved as a pastel artist. I find that pastels allow me to capture the fine detail that my animal art commands -- the realistic musculature of race horses in my equine art, the furry coats in pet portraits, etc.

Occasionally I work in acrylics on wood, including fine furniture (coffee tables, stools) and keepsake boxes.

Mary is an artist who has "lived" horses and uses that knowledge of her subjects to portray them.  Her attention to detail and muscle tone are especially lifelike.  She believes that the eyes are the most important part and strives to make them as realistic as possible.

Mary's equine art is commissioned by race horse owners, trainers and jockeys from across the nation. She also does commissioned pet portraits.

Although most of her work is painted on commission, her juried exhibitions include the prestigious Haddon Fortnightly in Haddonfield NJ . Her "Line Dance" won a corporate award in a Willingboro Art Alliance show in Burlington NJ.

Mary's work is held in private collections in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Carolina and Montana, and in Canada.
