note: Artist's website will open in a new window.
"The computer medium is the
only new art medium to be discovered in half a century. I
am glad I have continued to explore its possibilities. I
like the paradox of a very modern format for historical reference
material. If we can combine the new and the old successfully
we can combine black and white, progress and heritage, reflection
and breakthroughs."

We all have stories, rich family histories, struggles, romances and adventures. Some are harder to tell than others. I have many stories left to tell but while doing them I occasionally wish I was just contemplating space and color for abstract compositions instead of dealing with stories that sometimes break your stride if not your heart.
In creating her computer-generated, artistic visual "stories" Jane Lawton Baldrige uses collected materials as diverse as newspaper clippings, family relics, bits of lace and dead roses. She explores traditional collaging, computer collaging, Gicleé printing, Iris printing and different substrates for printing. Her resulting art is strikingly different from work that you will see from other artists.
