In science and in art,
may we always be together.

My images examine the relationship of the human experience and balance, shape and color in a picture plane. I particularly enjoy exploring the boundaries of reality and composition and merging representational form with the abstract.
I began my artistic endeavors as a scientist, illustrating textbooks and lab manuals with subjects ranging from kinesiology to botany. Next came scientific publications, photography, graphics, and presentation materials for the emerging biotechnology industry. I taught gifted students in elementary school, college level science labs, and helped run the state science fair along the way. It is this scientific/artistic dual-personality that makes my art strangely precise and abstract at the same time. -- Jo
